TWD - Sweet Cream Biscuits

Nobody needs biscuits. They're heavy, fat-filled, turn to little rocks by morning (so I've been told). Yet, there's something about hearing or seeing the word that sends me reaching for the flour and buttermilk or, in this case, heavy cream, without a questioning thought.

Of course, while they're perfect with just a spoonful of fruit jam, how much nicer to build a meal around them. A little chicken with gravy, some fresh vegetables. So satisfying for me and my family who patiently waited while I snapped this photo.

Many thanks to Melissa at Love At First Bite for choosing this recipe.

  5. I like biscuits (at least these ones!) more than I thought I did. I shouldn't have made mine so tiny, as they were very poppable! Nice chicken dinner.

  13. I love that you incorporated them into an entire meal! I turned mine into dessert, but only because they were squat and sort of dry.

My poor husband is always waiting for me to photograph something before he can eat it :)

  18. The biscuits look wonderful! You are so right about no one "needing" biscuits; my breakfast would have been perfectly fine without them, but they were good.

  19. Super job on those biscuits, Clivia! And with chicken and gravy? That's an old southern tradition!
My dad used to love them split with maple syrup poured on them...think that was an old Michigan trick!
