TWD - Dressy Chocolate Loaf Cake

This was everything my family enjoys in a cake. It was dense, moist and had a deep chocolate flavour. Before we could settle the debate over the need (or not) for the raspberry jam layers, the cake was gone.

As you can see from the photo, I'm not the best at judging where to cut the layers. The fact that the moist centre layer started to crumble, didn't help. I just slapped on the jam as quickly as I could and put it all back together.

This recipe was chosen by Amy Ruth of the blog Amy Ruth Bakes. I hope you'll take time to get the recipe and read some of her blog. Her photos are always beautiful and her blog entries are fun and personal.

  2. I totally know what you mean about the jam. I racked my little noggin with all kinds of different ideas even peanut butter. .. he he he. I am so glad you and the fam enjoyed eating your wonderful treat. Thank you for your kind words and for baking along with me this week.

  3. Looks dressy to me! I had trouble transporting the layers from cutting board to the cake plate and they fell apart in the middle. That, however, is what I am figuring the jam and icing were for...to cover up little incidents like that. Shhhh...don't tell anyone! Your cake looks stunning.

  4. Sprinkles! I love sprinkles -- they make everything cuter and "dressier" don't they? Your cake looks perfect.

  7. It was dark, dense, and delicious. I made minis and they were so much easier to deal with. Love the sprinkles.

  16. I love how you dressed it up with sprinkles! At least you managed to get three layers, I had trouble cutting mine and had to sacrifice one.

  17. Gorgeous!! My cake was a bit on the dry side(I think I overbaked it), so it definitely needed the jam layers. It was jummy though!
